We start our round trip through morocco by passing the Tizi n Tichka pass in direction of Telouet. Arriving there, we find a simple but nice accommodation pretty quickly (dar Aissa) and our host tells us a lot about the history of the village. Once, Telouet was an important trading town on the caravan route from the Sahara to the coast. During the French occupation, the Pascha Glaoui collaborated with the French and opposed the independence movement and so became the most powerful man of the south. After the independence of morocco, the village was geographically and economically isolated, as the new build street passes ~20 km away.

Aissa shows us the ruins of the kasbah of Telouet giving us an idea about the importance and pride former days. While most kasbahs are something like a fortress, this ones more of a palace and once waste main residence of the Glaoui family.

The next day, we continue to Aït Benhaddou via Anemiter. After a short stop at a salt mine, we reach Aït Benhaddou on a completely new road. A young man offers to guide us and we accept his offer and he shows us the local kasbah. The view is stunning and we get an idea why this kasbah was film set for so many famous films including Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth, Gladiator and very recently also Game of Thrones. The same afternoon, continue for the Dadès gorge and depend the night in the lovely Auberge des Gorges du Dadès.

As we take photos at a narrow part of the gorge the next day, we meet a young hitchhiker who asks is to take him out of the gorge with him. Essaid tells us enthusiastically about his plans and dreams: he is an English teacher and would love to open up his own private school. Finally, he invites us to spend the night or even longer at his place. As we have planned to reach the Todra gorge the same evening, we end up being invited for lunch and tea. It takes us around half an hour on a bumpy piste to reach his home. His mother and sisters prepare a traditional and very nice Tajine. We have talked for quite a while about several topics, when it is time to say goodbye. As Essaid is afraid, we wouldn't find our way back, he joins us for the whole way back to the paved road.

At the very end of the Todra gorge, shortly before Tamttatouchte, we find a lovely place to set up tent, just around 500m off the main road at the side of a gravel road.
